Chief Scouts Commendation for Good Service

A massive congratulations to Carly (our Scout Leader and Assistant Explorer Leader) who was presented with the Chief Scouts Commendation for Good Service last evening.

Carly has been involved in scouting for many years, starting as a scout and working as a leader with other groups before joining 1^st Foots Cray in 2017. Carly successfully implemented a complete revision of the program putting the emphasise back on Scouting values, introduced an exciting and new approach to the program which resulted in the membership increasing from 3 scouts to 20 within 2 months and has continued up wards of 35 at its peak. In addition Carly has ensured the Troop take part in regular camps, weekend activities, plus regular participation at District events and competitions.

In early 2021, after many months of planning, Carly helped establish Excalibur Explorer Scouts and built the unit in terms of numbers, program and engagements with the Duke of Edinburgh Award schemes, as well as leading the unit to numerous wins at District Competitions.

On behalf of the Troop and Unit a huge thank you for everything you do, much of which involves hours and hours of prep behind the scenes that often goes unnoticed, but not unappreciated.
