Lockdown - Update
3rd March 2020
Our Chairman and GSL have written to all parents regarding subs and our ongoing program, please look out for emails.
To summarise:-
The leaders and Executive Committee met virtually again, to discuss the current situation and the affect it is having on scouting. We are conscious these are uncertain times and that some families may be facing financial concerns or difficulties.
We have therefore been looking at ways to reduce the monthly subs that are paid. But even though we are not meeting face to face, we still need to maintain the scout hall and stores. Our business rates, rent and insurance premiums have not reduced, and the bulk of our utility bills are made up of fixed standing charges, that do not change if the hall is used or not.
In addition, we still need to collect the monthly proportion of the annual membership fee, for all members, that is paid over to the Scout Association (National HQ), the Scout County and District.
We know these are challenging times for us all, include the Scout Group. However, we want to do everything we can for our members, and therefore the Group Executive have agreed to reduce subs to £5 per member per month, for the next 3 months (Apr May & Jun).
*_How are we able to do this?_*
Our Group, like most charities, hold some financial reserve. Basically, this is an amount of money that we need to keep, in order to cover any emergencies or unexpected expenditure.
The Executive Committee has agreed that we should use this, to help offset the cost of running the Group for the next three months.
*_What happens after June?_*
Our Leaders and Group Executive are currently meeting (virtually) each week. We are working together to try and find new and innovative ways to continue running scouting for all our members.
We are all dedicated to seeing the Group continue, and get back to holding regular meetings, camps and outdoor activities as soon as it is safe to do so.
We are keeping a close eye on our costs, and what we are paying out, trying to reduce this wherever possible.
We can assure you, that with your help, the Group will continue to provide activities, both during and after the current climate we all face.
Stay Safe
