Pioneering
23rd June 2023
With help from generous donations from both, the William Kendall’s Charity and Tesco Community Grants, we have been able to purchase two sets of pioneering equipment.
For the past two weeks our Explorer Scouts have been testing out the equipment, with the other sections having an opportunity in the coming weeks.
Pioneering is a traditional scouting skill that uses wooden poles, ropes, lashings, pulleys, anchors and similar equipment to build wooden structures that can be used in games and activities, or in the recent example a gateway.
Pioneering not only teaches these traditional skills, but also teamwork, leadership and a sense of achievement.
We are extremely grateful to these two organisations that have enabled us to extend the activities we can offer to the young people in our local community and reintroduce these skills that we envisage will be available for many more years to come.
